She worked for 10 years as the digital editorial director and vice president of digital content at HGTV.com, DIYNetwork.com and Travel Channel.com, and 16 years as a reporter, columnist, and editor for the Naples (Fla.) Daily News, the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, the legendary Albuquerque Tribune and the Albuquerque Journal. She has written about everything from forest fires to dog-friendly decorating.

She lives in Atlanta, Ga., with one husband, two kids, four dogs, a parrot and around 500 plants.
